2018 SNP-ISIMM Joint Meeting.
The Society is co-sponsoring the first joint meeting of the Society for Natural Philosophy and the International Society for the Interaction of Mathematics and Mechanics (ISIMM; to be held at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Oxford on June 24-27, 2018. 
The meeting theme is “Natural Philosophy in the 21st Century”.
Speakers have been invited by each of the three participating organizations (the Society, ISIMM, and the Mathematical Institute) with the following speakers having been invited by the Society: Ellen Kuhl (Stanford University), Oscar Lopez-Pamies (University of Illinois), Brian Seguin (Loyola University Chicago), Arash Yavari (Georgia Tech).
Monday June 25 is slated to be a special day in honor of Professor John Ball's 70th birthday, with a public lecture on that day to be delivered by Professor Richard James.

Call for Short Roundtable Contributions:  A very limited number of 30-minute talk slots at the Oxford Meeting are available for Members of the Society.  
Nominations and self-nominations by Society Members must be received by January 31, 2018 and should be directed to Tom Pence ( and copied to Chi-Sing Man ( and Roberto Paroni (, all using the subject line “SNP Roundtable Submission”. 
Please include a short description of the work that will comprise the subject of the discourse.

2019 Meeting.  In the Spring of 2019 Brian Seguin and Arash Yavari will organize a meeting at Loyola University Chicago.  The topic will be "Microstructure, Defects, and Growth in Mechanics”.
